Level 3 Performing arts - week 3🎬

Monday 23rd September We started off by warming up, where we were introduced to some new games by the second years such as 'Alien, Tiger, Cow and also Elephant, Giraffe and Palm tree which both involved focusing skills along with listening skills. These were all to do with Ensemble which is moving as a group and doing the same thing at the same time. We then got into a circle and had to touch shoulder's with each other, we then all proceeded to jump at the exact same time which took a couple of tries for us to get it right, but once we got the hang of it, it started to create a perfect Ensemble. We then went on to practice for our auditions for the Ghost light tour at Stockton Globe. Me and Imogen who were going to audition for the role as (Bill Sikes and Nancy) from 'Oliver Twist' started to practice our lines by reading through the script and then saying the lines without trying to look back at the script. We then went on to practising some of the physical movements...

Level 3 Performing arts - week 2🎬

Monday 16th September   We started the morning off in the Margaret Armstrong Theatre with the second years and did a warm up games, some we knew like for example 'wah', and some that were new to us like 'cat and mouse' and 'chicken in the hut'. We then started to learn about the stage directions and positions which are from the audiences point of view, such as 'stage right', 'stage left' ,'down stage' ,'up stage and also 'stage centre'. This is all to make sure that that there is no blocking between any characters on stage whilst doing a show. After that we then got into groups of five and started to do a but of improvisation with certain objects that were given to us. So for example, our group was given a goblet and we had to use our imagination which was he main focus of this task, we only had three minutes to come up with 40 different things that you could do with that certain object that you were given. As the objects star...

Level 3 Performing arts - week 1 🎬

Monday 9th September   We started our very first lesson in Level 3 performing arts in our college theatre (Margret Armstrong Theatre) with the second years and playing a few games such as (wah, ninja and splat) just to get us warmed up and get us ready and set for our very first proper lesson. We then started to select a few of the students like for example (4 or 5) and started to put together a scene with just those students. Then the other remaining students would join in and try to be apart of that scene which would expand it into a more bigger scene which has now been created by all of the students. For example, we had to create a scene in a supermarket where some of the students were workers in the shop and then once the others came in, the scene became much more intense because it went from a normal day at a supermarket to a full armed robbery. This shows us that once you are in that scene you have to quickly become any character which would then cause the scene to get moire ...

Level 2 performing arts - week 1 🎬

Week 1 I confirm that the attached portfolio is all my own work and does not include any work completed by anyone other than myself Induction week  The main reason that i chose this course is because acting and performing arts is something that i have wanted to do ever since i was 9 years old and to be able to learn all of the different movements, all of the different abilities and be able to perform as a character that is not just your average self because its somebody that is not myself for once.  The things that i am looking forward to about this course is being able to play loads of different characters and be able to feel confident about acting for once because acting is something that i have always wanted to do but i have never had the proper confidence to do it. But now that i have started college i have been able to slowly find those pieces of confidence to help me become the person that i want and always have wanted to be. Some of the actors that inspire me is Nev Cam...

Level 2 Performing arts - week 34🎬

Monday 10th June Today was the day of our end of year performance (Beyond the bloodstained curtain) and also our final performance of Level 2 performing arts. It was definitely my favourite one out of the ones that we have done during this course and hopefully there will be more shows that will include me in the future next year. One thing i would of definitely improved when performing in the show is the volume to make sure that the people in the audience could of heard me better and also saying lines more quicker but not too quick just so that we remember when we have a line. We also did some final last minute performances and practices just so that we remember that we have everything right and we know all our lines and where all of the props need to go when taken off stage.

Level 2 Performing arts - week 33🎬

Tuesday 4th June  We did some more rehearsals for our end of year performance 'Beyond the bloodstained curtain' whilst trying to be off script and learn our lines before we do the actual show which is next Monday and with only a few days till the then we are trying to make sure that we know what our characters are saying and which of us are moving which props when transferring to a different scene. We also made sure that we had all of our props which we needed to include for our characters in the show and also our head shots finished and our quote which we needed to send to our tutor Abbie which would be put under our head shots that were taken by Kane. Wednesday 5th June During more rehearsals of our performance we tried to work on some scenes that needed improvising the most such as some of the lines that we needed to remember and also the most worked part which is the ending scene where my character Benjamin stabs Theodore.  We also needed to work on the fight scene which i...

Level 2 Performing arts - week 32🎬

Tuesday 21st May  We started to do a run through of our end of year show in the theatre just so we know what it will be like when we do it in there on the actual night. it also gives us the chance to make that we know our lines completely and that we have each prop and costume for our characters including there costumes that they wear in the flashbacks and also what they wear to this years comic con. We also made sure that when we change into a different scene, we make sure that the shifts are done quickly and quietly so that the audience don't have to wait in the dark. We needed to make sure that one each person had a part when we go to a new scene so that they all have a part when moving to a new scene. Wednesday 22nd May We started to get all of our props and pieces of furniture together for our end of year performance and started to paint them in order for them to match the scenery that will be used in the show along with some pictures of the internet that we be projected onto ...
