Level 3 Performing arts - week 3🎬

 Monday 23rd September

We started off by warming up, where we were introduced to some new games by the second years such as 'Alien, Tiger, Cow and also Elephant, Giraffe and Palm tree which both involved focusing skills along with listening skills. These were all to do with Ensemble which is moving as a group and doing the same thing at the same time. We then got into a circle and had to touch shoulder's with each other, we then all proceeded to jump at the exact same time which took a couple of tries for us to get it right, but once we got the hang of it, it started to create a perfect Ensemble.

We then went on to practice for our auditions for the Ghost light tour at Stockton Globe. Me and Imogen who were going to audition for the role as (Bill Sikes and Nancy) from 'Oliver Twist' started to practice our lines by reading through the script and then saying the lines without trying to look back at the script. We then went on to practising some of the physical movements which we included in the script such as 'punches', 'hair pulling', 'pushing to the ground, and also kicking just to make the scene more tense and more violent.

Tuesday 24th September

Our warm up this morning involved a couple of games just to get us ready for the start of the lesson such as 'Ninja', 'Wah' and also 'The Village' which had to involve group knowledge and team work.

We also did some more focus on Stanislavsky's the 'Magic if' which uses the term of What if, What if this happened? or what if that happened?, we were given some examples by our tutor 'Kelly' like "Imagine its raining indoors" what would you do?, or "Imagine of you lost something very valuable to you" what would you do?. We then got into groups of four and started to imagine a scene as if we were at a wedding, and there would be one person between the other two who would object the wedding which would then cause everyone to have a reaction. Another example that we did was imagine being locked in a room and we had to be all panicked and also think as to what we would do in order to get out. The whole point of doing this is to question 'what would you do if you were in this situation and this actually happened to you in real life.

We then went on to practice for our auditions which were the next day for when we do the Ghost light tour at Stockton Globe in October. We did some last minute rehearsals for the characters that we wanted to be which mine was 'Bill Sikes' and Imogens would be 'Nancy' also look over out lines for the characters to make sure that we have got everything right.

Wednesday 25th September

For warm up this morning, we were introduced to a new game by the second years called 'Helicopter, Toaster, Elephant and paparazzi' which involved eye contact and quick speed. Another new game we were introduced to by the second years was called 'prince and princess' which involved two people and if you were not quick enough then you'd be straight out.

After that for the rest of the morning we continued to rehearse our lines for our characters who we are auditioning for at the Ghost light tour show at the globe which we are doing. When finishing our lines for our characters, we did some final checks and went through our lines one last time before me and Imogen went in to do the audition as 'Bill Sikes' and 'Nancy'.

When we did our audition for Bill and Nancy we put together all our courage and just went for it, i had to use the power in my voice and just shout, whilst Imogen threw herself on thew floor, we also managed to make the punches and the kicks look realistic. We also made sure to include the importance of eye contact. Overall it was an absolute amazing opportunity to go for this role and audition and also how it made my confidence go all the way from 0 to 100.

We then performed our scene in front of the first years, second years and also the level 4 students. When we performed in front of them we came up with the idea of  Nancy running through the audience and Bill running after her whilst she hides behind the pillar, when performing as Bill I felt so much rage in myself and i have no idea where it came from, and Imogen had the look of terror in her eyes from when doing the terror of Nancy. When we finished we had everyone around us clapping which made us feel really proud of ourselves and also made us realise how good we both were at playing the parts.

Level 2 Performing arts - Week 26🎬

Tuesday 26th March We started to film our news reports with Abbie and Kane where we used the Film and TV equipment and also used a teleprompter that was used behind the camera so that when we recorded our news report, we could see the words behind the camera and we didn't have to read it all off paper. We tried to make sure that we had all the lighting correct when filming this news report and also using microphones so that we could be heard clearly when we were being recorded.  Wednesday 27th March  We started off by doing some warm ups with Kellie and the Level 3 students and also some games so that we could practice our acting skills. We then started to look at what we wanted to do for our futures and what kind of preparations we needed for what course we want to do next. For example Level 3 performing arts would need a monologue where we had to pick one and try to memorise it and do a practice audition whilst saying the lines. For example my monologue was about a poem call...

Level 2 performing arts - week 2 🎬

This week I have learned the movements and lyrics for ‘Revolting children’ from Matilda the musical and also practised the show case rehearsal that I am doing which includes ‘Fatal Beating’ which is a sketch by Rowan Atkinson and ‘Say my name’ from Beetle juice the musical. A few other things that I have learned this week is where about things are in college such as the cafeteria, the classrooms and the toilets so that I know where everything is. The final thing that I have learned this week is that we’re only a few weeks into college so you don’t have to be good at everything straight away and nothing has to be perfect just yet.

Level 2 Performing arts - week 32🎬

Tuesday 21st May  We started to do a run through of our end of year show in the theatre just so we know what it will be like when we do it in there on the actual night. it also gives us the chance to make that we know our lines completely and that we have each prop and costume for our characters including there costumes that they wear in the flashbacks and also what they wear to this years comic con. We also made sure that when we change into a different scene, we make sure that the shifts are done quickly and quietly so that the audience don't have to wait in the dark. We needed to make sure that one each person had a part when we go to a new scene so that they all have a part when moving to a new scene. Wednesday 22nd May We started to get all of our props and pieces of furniture together for our end of year performance and started to paint them in order for them to match the scenery that will be used in the show along with some pictures of the internet that we be projected onto ...
