Level 2 Performing arts - week 31🎬

Tuesday 14th May

We started to film the other flashback for our end of year performance where Larry wins the competition and we get everyone's reaction to him winning. We had to use the Green screen room in order to film this and had to include Abbie, Laura and Kane as the judges and the ones who announce the winner.

We also did another run through of the show and made sure that our characters have the exposition and the volume to make sure that we remember all of our lines. It was important to make sure that our characters could be heard easily and also that after we say our lines we give the audience a chance to react.

Wednesday 15th May

We were shown one of our flashbacks by Kane which is one of the two flashbacks that will be shown in our end of year show where Larry wins the costume competition from the previous year.

Thursday 16th May

In our session with Tom,we did our auditions/interviews where the ones who were going into Level 3 performing arts would have to read out a monologue and perform it, as well as being asked questions such as what have you enjoyed about Level 2? and why do you want to go onto Level 3?, this was also recorded, and the other students who were doing a different course would have to do an interview with Tom where they would be asked why they want to do that course and what skills do they have for that specific course that they want to go into next year, which was also recorded as well.

Friday 17th May

WE had some Level 1 students come into our course today to get an experience of what Level 2 Performing arts is like next year when they come in. We started off be introducing ourselves and saying three different things about ourselves. We started to do some games to get everyone ready such as 'wink murder' and also 'Splat' and also did some vocal warm ups to get our voices warmed up as well as some exercises just to get us woken up.

After that we showed them a little preview of two scenes from our end of year performance (Beyond the bloodstained curtain) such as 'The opening group chat scene with everybody', and also The part when the first murder happens. We then asked if they had any questions to ask us and to see if they could figure our who the murder was just by what they had seen so far.

Overall it was a really good experience telling the Level 1 students about Level 2 performing arts, why they should definitely join next year and how it has been an amazing course and helped most of us gain strength, confidence and most importantly make friends in the course.

Level 2 Performing arts - Week 26🎬

Tuesday 26th March We started to film our news reports with Abbie and Kane where we used the Film and TV equipment and also used a teleprompter that was used behind the camera so that when we recorded our news report, we could see the words behind the camera and we didn't have to read it all off paper. We tried to make sure that we had all the lighting correct when filming this news report and also using microphones so that we could be heard clearly when we were being recorded.  Wednesday 27th March  We started off by doing some warm ups with Kellie and the Level 3 students and also some games so that we could practice our acting skills. We then started to look at what we wanted to do for our futures and what kind of preparations we needed for what course we want to do next. For example Level 3 performing arts would need a monologue where we had to pick one and try to memorise it and do a practice audition whilst saying the lines. For example my monologue was about a poem call...

Level 2 performing arts - week 2 🎬

This week I have learned the movements and lyrics for ‘Revolting children’ from Matilda the musical and also practised the show case rehearsal that I am doing which includes ‘Fatal Beating’ which is a sketch by Rowan Atkinson and ‘Say my name’ from Beetle juice the musical. A few other things that I have learned this week is where about things are in college such as the cafeteria, the classrooms and the toilets so that I know where everything is. The final thing that I have learned this week is that we’re only a few weeks into college so you don’t have to be good at everything straight away and nothing has to be perfect just yet.

Level 2 Performing arts - week 32🎬

Tuesday 21st May  We started to do a run through of our end of year show in the theatre just so we know what it will be like when we do it in there on the actual night. it also gives us the chance to make that we know our lines completely and that we have each prop and costume for our characters including there costumes that they wear in the flashbacks and also what they wear to this years comic con. We also made sure that when we change into a different scene, we make sure that the shifts are done quickly and quietly so that the audience don't have to wait in the dark. We needed to make sure that one each person had a part when we go to a new scene so that they all have a part when moving to a new scene. Wednesday 22nd May We started to get all of our props and pieces of furniture together for our end of year performance and started to paint them in order for them to match the scenery that will be used in the show along with some pictures of the internet that we be projected onto ...
