Tuesday 7th May
We started to film the first flashback scene where Benjamin pushes Theodore down the stairs for our end of year performance with Kane and Abbie. We first started off by finding the staircase that would be good to film the scene at and then used the right shots such as 'Wide shot and Medium shot'. We put this into three scenes and then put them both together to create the scene, The first part we filmed was Haden's character Theodore walking down the stairs along with my character Benjamin not far behind him, this is when the lights go out and they are both in darkness and then Benjamin bumps into Theodore and then he falls down the stairs, we also managed to get a close up of my reaction when Theodore is pushed. The second scene is when Jay's character Larry whiteness's Theodore being pushed by Benjamin, we then got a close up scene of his reaction when he sees whats happened. The third and final scene was Haden's character lying at the bottom of the stairs to make it look like he has actually fallen down them.
When this is shown in the actual performance that we do, it will be shown in black and white so that the audience think that it has happened in an actual blackout, plus it also uses the effect of 'Film noir' because it is presented played in black and white.
Wednesday 8th May
We started to plan out our essay that we are going to be doing on 'Film noir' later this week which needs to include 750 words. We wrote down what the main parts of film noir we needed to include in our essay such as for e.g. an introduction, main body and a full conclusion.
We also did more practises of our end of year show and made sure to include volume more in our lines so that the audience can hear us more clear and also saying our lines to the audience more slower so that they can understand us. We were also introduced to 'Exposition' for our performance which is the background information which is based on a certain characters story or setting. This helps us a lot with our own characters in the performance because not only does it lets the audience look at what some of the characters backstories are, but it will also make them more understanding of who the characters are.
Thursday 9th May
We started to work on our Essay on Film noir which needed to include some of the basic details and information such as the introduction, main key parts and also how it was useful in different films of the 1940s and 1950s. We also need to make sur that it has 750 words in this Essay and has to include enough parts as to why film noir was used back then.
We also managed to do a practice run-through of our Auditions/interviews that we are doing in order to go into the course that we wanted to go into next year.
Friday 10th May
When practicing our run through of our end of year performance 'Beyond the bloodstained curtain', most of us have managed to go off script and remember all of our lines and also other parts, e.g. stage blocking, volume and also exposition of each character including our own.
We also had one of the staff member's to come and watch us doing a run through of the show and to see if they could figure out who the killer was and if they had any questions for us which we had to answer in character, but we tried not to give to much away as to who it could be.
