Level 2 Performing arts - week 25🎬

Tuesday 19th March

In our lesson with Kane and Abbie, we focused on the lighting and colour and how they have an important role in film and TV. Thus involves the filming lighting which refers to the direction, source or colour of the atmosphere and also creates a texture or visual impact. We looked at the four main key elements of lighting which are:

Direction- refers to the path where the light source comes from.

Quality- refers to the intensity of the light.

Source- refers to the role of the light.

Colour- refers to the colour of the light and what different kind of moods the different colours represent.

We also looked at two clips from a film called 'Drive' and how they involved two different lighting atmospheres which gave off different feelings. One where it was giving the look of tense and how it shows that you can only see one bit of light on the characters face. Whereas other scene had the feeling of freedom by giving a warm lighting effect to make the scene feel more safe.

This also shows how the different lighting effect and colours give the vibe of different moods, for example red shows the mood of anger and love, whereas blue gives the effect of sadness and quietness.

Wednesday 20th March

We started to finish off our news reports and make sure that they were complete before we film them next week. We also needed to make sure that we included the important topics such as Mise en scene, props and costumers that were used in our Film and TV performance and also the locations and shot sizes that we used when filming our scenes such as Long distance shot and Establishing shot.

We also worked more on our scripts for our end of year performance 'Beyond the bloodstain curtain' where we tried to come up with some more ideas on how it will all leads up to the murder of the victim and how all of the characters will have a reasonable motive for the person who gets murdered.

When writing and planning out all of our motives, we needed to make sure that each motive will link to the victim and why each character would want them dead.

Thursday 21st March

In our session with tom we looked at some more performances from The national Theatre such as Jane Eyre and a newly version of  'Alice in Wonderland'. We also went to go and watch a preview in our college theatre of the Level 3 students performance 'Shout' where it was about a young girl called 'Dana' who tries to find her voice whilst during her years of school.

Friday 22nd March

We started to work on how we are gonna set out the scenes for our end of year performance 'Beyond the bloodstain curtain' such as The dinner scene and The murder of the victim scene. We wanted those scenes to fit in when the actual murder happens so that everyone is there when the murder happens and how we can add it into our script.

We also looked at some examples of some murder mysteries from 'Agatha Christie's' 'And then there were non' and also 'Miss Marple' and then started to see how we could add some of those ideas into our performance so that it can give the audience a little bit of suspense and start to wonder more.

Level 2 Performing arts - Week 26🎬

Tuesday 26th March We started to film our news reports with Abbie and Kane where we used the Film and TV equipment and also used a teleprompter that was used behind the camera so that when we recorded our news report, we could see the words behind the camera and we didn't have to read it all off paper. We tried to make sure that we had all the lighting correct when filming this news report and also using microphones so that we could be heard clearly when we were being recorded.  Wednesday 27th March  We started off by doing some warm ups with Kellie and the Level 3 students and also some games so that we could practice our acting skills. We then started to look at what we wanted to do for our futures and what kind of preparations we needed for what course we want to do next. For example Level 3 performing arts would need a monologue where we had to pick one and try to memorise it and do a practice audition whilst saying the lines. For example my monologue was about a poem call...

Level 2 performing arts - week 2 🎬

This week I have learned the movements and lyrics for ‘Revolting children’ from Matilda the musical and also practised the show case rehearsal that I am doing which includes ‘Fatal Beating’ which is a sketch by Rowan Atkinson and ‘Say my name’ from Beetle juice the musical. A few other things that I have learned this week is where about things are in college such as the cafeteria, the classrooms and the toilets so that I know where everything is. The final thing that I have learned this week is that we’re only a few weeks into college so you don’t have to be good at everything straight away and nothing has to be perfect just yet.

Level 2 Performing arts - week 32🎬

Tuesday 21st May  We started to do a run through of our end of year show in the theatre just so we know what it will be like when we do it in there on the actual night. it also gives us the chance to make that we know our lines completely and that we have each prop and costume for our characters including there costumes that they wear in the flashbacks and also what they wear to this years comic con. We also made sure that when we change into a different scene, we make sure that the shifts are done quickly and quietly so that the audience don't have to wait in the dark. We needed to make sure that one each person had a part when we go to a new scene so that they all have a part when moving to a new scene. Wednesday 22nd May We started to get all of our props and pieces of furniture together for our end of year performance and started to paint them in order for them to match the scenery that will be used in the show along with some pictures of the internet that we be projected onto ...
