Level 2 performing arts - week 22🎬

Tuesday 27th February

We started filming the first couple of scenes in our Film and TV production with Kane where we brought the filming equipment and used some of the shot sizes such as Medium shot and full body shot.

We then made sure that the lighting was perfect and that the microphones we had were on us properly so that our voice comes up when we are recorded which makes it easier to hear us. Another thing was when we recorded the scenes, we had to do was to do three different shots in three different places. For example our characters from (Halloween 2018) our characters are in an office first and then it cuts to the three of us walking down the hallway and then a scene of us in the hospital. Overall it was a fun and brilliant thing to film and even tho it did take a few times to get the scene right, we still managed to get the right shot sizes for the right scenes that we needed for our scenes.

Wednesday 28th February

We started to work on what we are going to do for our news report and how the presentation of it could be when we record it, so we started to list what different types of aspects they have whilst during a news report such as the the headlines/story, the actual setting of the office and also where it will take place and also the people in the background on the computers writing up the stories that are going to be presented on the news. One thing that i would like to focus on with this news report is when delivering it to the camera, to try and get into the physicality of delivering the lines and trying to act like an actual news reporter who is going to be reading the news report.

We also started to work more on our Comic Con Murder Mystery where we all decided as a group what the name of the actual performance would be (Beyond the bloodstain curtain). We also decided to write down the reasons/motives as to why one of the characters would want to kill the victim and also why the characters are all going to Comic Con. Another thing is a reason why the each character hates the victim so that they all have a reason as to why the person got murdered. We then started to plan out what lines we are going to say at the beginning of the performance and how they will link to the victim who gets murdered.

Thursday 29th February

We started to look at some new monologues where we were asked to pick two out, one Classical and one Contemporary. For example, i chose Shakespeare's 'Macbeth' for Act 1 scene, and also one written by Cush Jumbo called 'The Accordion shop' and then proceeded to write down what the main plot of the story is and what part of the story it happens in.

We also started to work more on our news reports and how we could make them more realistic, but also make the story relevant to our production that we are doing in Film and TV. We also wanted to make sure that we could come up with a way to make it sound more like a true and inspiring news report/story that actually sounds believable.

Friday 1st March

We started to write down the given circumstances for our characters that we are performing as in the Comic - Con Murder Mystery, for example their name, job, what their motive would be and also what their relationship is between them and the victim. We tried to link each and every ones perspectives to link with the story line.

We also did a workshop activity with the Level 3 students where we did some movements, games and activities just to warm us up and get us ready and prepared for what to expect in the later future of acting. Its important to know this just so that you know what to expect when you do acting later on in life. It was a really enjoyable activity to do with the Level 3 students and has definitely helped me grow a bit more confidence for acting.

Level 2 Performing arts - Week 26🎬

Tuesday 26th March We started to film our news reports with Abbie and Kane where we used the Film and TV equipment and also used a teleprompter that was used behind the camera so that when we recorded our news report, we could see the words behind the camera and we didn't have to read it all off paper. We tried to make sure that we had all the lighting correct when filming this news report and also using microphones so that we could be heard clearly when we were being recorded.  Wednesday 27th March  We started off by doing some warm ups with Kellie and the Level 3 students and also some games so that we could practice our acting skills. We then started to look at what we wanted to do for our futures and what kind of preparations we needed for what course we want to do next. For example Level 3 performing arts would need a monologue where we had to pick one and try to memorise it and do a practice audition whilst saying the lines. For example my monologue was about a poem call...

Level 2 performing arts - week 2 🎬

This week I have learned the movements and lyrics for ‘Revolting children’ from Matilda the musical and also practised the show case rehearsal that I am doing which includes ‘Fatal Beating’ which is a sketch by Rowan Atkinson and ‘Say my name’ from Beetle juice the musical. A few other things that I have learned this week is where about things are in college such as the cafeteria, the classrooms and the toilets so that I know where everything is. The final thing that I have learned this week is that we’re only a few weeks into college so you don’t have to be good at everything straight away and nothing has to be perfect just yet.

Level 2 Performing arts - week 32🎬

Tuesday 21st May  We started to do a run through of our end of year show in the theatre just so we know what it will be like when we do it in there on the actual night. it also gives us the chance to make that we know our lines completely and that we have each prop and costume for our characters including there costumes that they wear in the flashbacks and also what they wear to this years comic con. We also made sure that when we change into a different scene, we make sure that the shifts are done quickly and quietly so that the audience don't have to wait in the dark. We needed to make sure that one each person had a part when we go to a new scene so that they all have a part when moving to a new scene. Wednesday 22nd May We started to get all of our props and pieces of furniture together for our end of year performance and started to paint them in order for them to match the scenery that will be used in the show along with some pictures of the internet that we be projected onto ...
