Level 2 performing arts - week 21🎬

Tuesday 13th February Today in our Film and TV lesson we looked at the table scene from the film 'The Devil wears Prada" and started to identify the different shot sizes that were shown in each scene of the film. We were then put into  a group to recreate the scene. We then started to film the scenes with the different shot sizes such as the Long distance shot, Extreme close up and the full shot from head-toe along with some of the acting and production equipment. Wednesday 14th February Not in College Thursday 15th February We looked at different scenes from Hex, 1917, and Romeo and Juliet and started to pick out what we liked the most about the different scenes, for example the settings, casting and costumes and also the dislikes about them. We then wrote down which one was our favourite and what we liked most about the one we chose. Level 2 performing arts - week 20🎬

Tuesday, 6th February This week in our lesson with Abbie and Kane, we were introduced to storyboards. This is when you plan out scene by scene, and you decide what shot sizes, locations and who is on-screen. Creating storyboards allows you to plan, organise and create a mental image of how the script will work and be shot. Below is two of the scenes from my storyboard. I find re-reading the script until you remember the lines is what helps me the most. We then started to practice getting ...

Level 2 Performing Arts - week 19 🎬

Tuesday 30th January We did another lesson with Abbie and Kane on the 'Mise en scene' which the literal meaning 'staging of the stage'. Mise en scene refers to some of the visual elements in a scenes in Film and TV. These elements are performance/actors, costumes, lights and set designs. Mise en scene helps to create the right mood and atmosphere and helps this to be portrayed to the audience. It creates a more engaging, and emotional experience for the audience. After learning about this, we then looked at our scripts and how we would like the components of mise en scene to be for our own scenes. A example is our costumes. For the character the Doctor , we decided he obviously needed to be in a lab coat, not only to show his job but his authority in the facility. For lighting, we want it to be a mid-tone and more on the darker side, but not where characters are difficult to see. We want this type of lighting, to fit the atmosphere of a more eery and uncomfortable set...
